The Wall-E A sassy robot and his faithful friend, Eve, steal the show in this Disney/Pixar hit. On a distant future Earth where humans have evolved into smokestacks and golfers, an overworked captain of a big rig saves the day by giving his cargo ship an overhaul. It's up to our heroes to clean up the mess when they're forced to take back control. Kids will love the film's charming look at humanity's waste-filled future while adults will appreciate its message about finding beauty in what others overlook. There are no winners or losers here; just life on the edge of perpetual motion...and it looks beautiful!. It is the year 2805. Earth has been abandoned, and humans have fled into space to escape the fatal effects of pollution. Years of garbage have fallen over the planet creating a new landscape where robots are the only inhabitants. Amongst his fellow garbage collectors is WALL-E, whose sole purpose in life is to collect more trash. On one fateful day, WALL-E chases down an escaping spaceship that drops off a robot on Earth that changes everything around him. The pair learns that on Earth they are considered more than just machines, they are something special...but their time together is short-lived when EVE, a sleek reconnaissance robot arrives with her own agenda for Earth's future.. A single-disc DVD, Blu-ray and HD DVD were all released on December 18, 2008. The film was released on the same day as the Pixar short "Presto" as a bonus feature. It also contains audio commentary from director Andrew Stanton and co-director Jim Reardon as well as featurettes "Earth: A New Home", "The World of WALL·E" and "WALL·E's Playlist". The film was released on a 2-disc DVD/Blu-ray combo pack on March 24, 2010. The first disc of this set contains the movie, the second disc contains all of the bonus features of the previous release. The film was released on a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack on November 13, 2013. "WALL·E" was ranked #11 in National Association of Theatre Owners' "Movies for Grownups 2008". It grossed $223 million in North America and $223 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $446 million. It was highest-grossing film of 2008 worldwide, with its box office total being second only to "The Dark Knight" ($533.3 million). Box Office Mojo estimates that the film sold over 74 million tickets in the US. In the United States and Canada, pre-release tracking suggested that "WALL-E" would open to $43–50 million from 3,893 theaters in its opening weekend. "The Hollywood Reporter" noted that Pixar had never opened a film in more than 3,500 theaters until "Ratatouille", which opened in 4,167 theaters (the largest Pixar opening to date until 2010's "Toy Story 3"). The film was #1 on Fandango's 2008 pre-release chart. Pre-release tracking indicated it would play better with older audiences; 54% of ticket buyers were male and 56% were over the age of 25. However, polls by CinemaScore showed it had strong support among all ages. cfa1e77820
